Andrew Capraro, of Canton, was hiking the Flume Slide Trail in Lincoln, New Hampshire on Monday, June 12 when he slid and fell 15 feet, suffering serious injuries, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Law Enforcement Division.

Flume Slide Trail is rated as a "hard" and "challenging" trek by AllTrails, an online hiking resource.

"This is a treacherous hike not for the faint of hearted and like many things in life it is not recommended, but doable if you dare," reads one review of the trail.

Capraro's hiking companion alerted officials of Capraro's injuries around 11:25 a.m.

Capraro, 52, began to slowly continue down the trail with the help of two conservation officers, but his condition did not improve.

Volunteers from Pemi Valley Search and Rescue Team were called in case Capraro needed to be carried off the trail.

He stabilized enough that he was able to make it the entire 3.5 miles to the trailhead, where he was met by the rescue party at 2:50 p.m.

Capraro was seriously injured in his fall. He was transported by LinWood Ambulance to Littleton Regional Healthcare for treatment.

Officials say Capraro was a well-prepared and experienced hiker. He said, from what he could recall, that he slipped on wet rocks before falling.
